NEW PRAYERS
HAM, ROBERT AND CHARLOTTE, had a car accident a couple of weeks ago. Their 53 year old son was killed in the accident. Their daughters, Connie Ellison and Robin Rothe, from the Big Sandy area, are in Georgia at the hospital. They arranged the funeral, etc. Please pray for this family who is going through so much.
HENSON, MAGGIE, aunt of Joanna Boston of Little Rock, has cancer. Please pray for her healing.
MC LENDON, SID, was in a motorcycle accident and is still in a coma. Sid is the brother of Cindy Mc Lendon. Please pray for his quick and complete recovery. Please also pray for his family.
MOORE, KELLY ANNE, sister-in-law of Pat Dardiz, needs a bowel resection due to a severe case of colitis. She is attempting to wait until next January but, if she has another bout with it, she cannot take any type of antibiotic, as it makes the symptoms more agonizing. I am asking for prayer for her, that our Father in Heaven allows her to have the athroscopic bowel resection instead of the open abdomen and, if possible, she is able to wait until January. She is concerned and truly would appreciate prayer for these situations.
SMITH, MARCI, of California, is having tests run for lupus. Please pray for the best results for her.
UPDATES
SAVORY, DAVE, 71, brother-in-law of Lisa Meredith-Coker - Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s – UPDATE: I am asking for prayers and positive thoughts for my sister, Cherie, as she copes with the imminent transition of her husband, Dave. Three years ago he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s & Parkinson's Disease. This past August he began to noticeably decline. He was at O'Connor Hospital for much of August due to falling and dehydration and hallucinations and is currently in an Assisted Living facility in San Jose. On Saturday Night the effects of the Parkinson's caused him great agitation and spastic movement so the Hospice care-giver has put him on Morphine and other medications to quiet the agitation. He is now sleeping a lot and not wanting to eat. This, I am told, is the natural progression of Parkinson's. My heart goes out to my sister who has visited him every single day. They celebrated their 27th Wedding Anniversary in August and the future looks bleak to her. He has four adult sons from a previous marriage and they are still feeling the pain of their mother's death last year and seeing their dad in this state has been highly difficult. Thank you all for your love and support for all concerned during this difficult and sad time.

DEATHS, BIRTHS, MISCELLANEOUS
JACKSON, ED, Tulsa OK – in coma with brain swelling and blood clot in arm; blood clot gone; swelling down; to be moved to long-term rehab unit – MR. ED JACKSON passed away Friday morning. His sister expressed the family’s appreciation for all the prayers on his behalf. Please pray for his family.

She was kept in CCU there to be stabilized and then moved to St Paul Hospital on Monday. Flo died just after midnight on Tuesday (9/23). Her funeral will be today, Friday (9/26) at 2 pm in Oklahoma. It is being handled by Coffee-Murray Funeral Home in Durant OK, but the service will be graveside only. The name or the location of the cemetery was not given.
SISK, MRS. JOHN (BRENDA), 1120 Boulan, Attica MI 48412, died on Tuesday morning, September 23, 2008. Brenda has suffered with cancer for quite some time. She endured the pain and suffering, never complaining; all the while looking for healing from the Eternal God, in whom she put her trust. Brenda was a true example of a servant. She was a nurse by profession. She was well-loved by the patients she served. She was highly respected by the hospital staff and the doctors in the hospitals where she was employed. Brenda and John lost their only child, their son, a few years ago. The family of Brenda are deeply saddened by her death. She was loved by all the family. Her husband, John, a faithful, long time member of the church is in poor health; he suffers from pulmonary hypertension, a disease that took the lives of two of his brothers and his father. John has not been able to work for several years. Please send a card or letter to John (at the above address) to encourage him at this time. It will mean so much to him to know that others care. Recently, when we visited John and Brenda, they kept repeating how much the cards and letters they had received, meant to them. (Sent by Sam and Faye Stamper)
I received word this morning that JIM (BUDDY) QUARLES, of Longview TX had to be taken back to the hospital because of infection from the ruptured appendix suffered a short while ago. Evidently there was some residue left in his abdomen which caused infection to set in. He's on antibiotics again and should be back on his feet very soon. Please pray for his quick and permanent healing.
Barbara Roush called also asking for urgent prayers for her son, MARK KENYON of Arkansas. He had been working for some time now and one day last week got sick and came home. He went right back to work the next day but wasn't feeling completely well. He went to the doctor today and found out that his blood sugar was quit high and the doctor also told him that he felt he had a staph infection. They are checking into this possibility at the present time. Please pray that his problems will be healed quickly.
Just received this urgent plea:
God knows the situation. Isabella is my little niece who has been terrorized by her sociopathic, drug addicted mother. She is in great danger and yet our family cannot seem to get custody of her. My mother has her right now but we are praying that God will intervene because the mother (my sister) plans on taking her back. Isabella is terrified and hysterical and says she will run away if her mother comes to take her back again. Please pray that God will step in. Our whole family has been terrorized by her (my sister) since as far back as my earliest childhood memories. She did this to my younger sister and me and now she is doing it to her daughter (my niece). The police have been called many times but they say that legally, we have to give her back unless one of us gets custody. We are very upstanding, straight laced people, but for some reason, in this case, the system has been very slow to work in our favor. The mother is extremely deceptive and chameleon like and this delays our efforts to break Isabella free from her grasp. I'm scared that if she goes back to her again that something will happen to her. She has been exposed to unspeakable things!!! Please pray for God's inter-vention! We are all so upset! Her mother is a very evil person and Isabella is not safe when she is with her. Please pray hard for us as this has been going on for so long! Isabella is 10 years old. Thank you all so much! UPDATE (today): The mother is on her way to get Isabella! She called the police and told them horrific lies and my mother has to turn her over by noon today. The child is in great danger! I pray the Lord will intervene. Pray the Lord will restrain this woman. We are so desperate! Thank you for your prayers.

He is in the Watertown Regional Medical Center,125 Hospital Drive, Watertown, WI 53098, Phone: (920) 261-4210, or (800) 472-4210. Doctors found (on Thursday) that he has a blood clot in his lung. They caught it in time and they have him on a drug to dissolve the clot, whatever that may be. On Thursday morning, he was in much pain, and they had given him morphine. The doctor said the pain was normal, as his body was working to absorb the "substantial" blood clot. What was not normal was the lack of pain yesterday, except for his head hurting from his fall. Alice (his wife) was told Don would be able to resume all his normal activities after this is over, except for climbing into the back of the pick up truck, or onto the tractor, since he could have severe bleeding if he fell while on the blood thinner medication. Alice said thank you so much from all of us in the family. She was going to go back to the hospital this afternoon. Since Don is in pain, he isn't ready for visitors and isn't talking much. His daughter, Sarah Uhing told us that on Friday, he was not looking so good. Thursday night they moved him from a regular room to a private ICU room. They are monitoring him very closely and he is in tremendous pain. Yesterday he was very coherent and talking, but today he has definitely gone for the worse. The morphine they gave him was not even touching his pain last night, so he is on something even stronger. I am sure that is part of why he is so out of it today. Please keep him in your prayers that the blood clot will reabsorb quickly and not move. The doctor did say that this is normal for it to be painful when the clot reabsorbs...so that is good sign. Hopefully it means it is not moving around. More information may be gotten from Sarah surplussales@nconnect.net Please pray for Don and for his family.
STRICKLAND, ED AND MARY, 7334 Riverside Place, Orlando, Florida 32810-3770, ex-WCG members, became worried when Lee didn’t return phone calls, so Mary went over to his apartment on Wednesday. When he didn’t answer the door, she let herself in with her key, and found him laying across his bed, dead. How horrible! He was only 25 years old. He had just been to the doctor (either that day, or the day before) and was given antibotics and possibly other medications due to a severe upper respiratory infection. It is not known if he had a bad reaction to his medications, or what. He has also been suffering with juvenile diabetes for a long time, so there could have been complications from that, too. The viewing will be Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Robert Bryant Funeral and Cremation Chapel, 321 E Michigan St, Orlando FL 32806. Memorial service will be on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. Please pray for Ed and Mary and also for his sister, Amy.

NEW PRAYERS
HOUSTON AREA DISASTER SURVIVORS – Marie Hall of Bedias TX writes: “When Ike came in, we all lost electricity. They tell us it will not be back on for 2-3 weeks. Houston took a bad hit and I do not know if our church building is okay. Please have everyone pray for all the people who were in the storm. Most of our brethren were okay, just minor damage. We need prayers that we will have a place for our Feast.” Please pray for the brethren in and around the Houston area, (and any others who received disruptions and damages from “Ike”) that they may soon be back to their normal life.
KIMMONS, PAM, Brookhaven MS took a fall on Thursday. She was walking across a gravel parking lot and tripped and fell. She tried to catch herself and wound up breaking her left arm just below the elbow. Her husband, Anthony, took her to the ER at Baptist Hospital in Jackson MS. They found she had actually dislocated the elbow and broke the end off the main lower bone in her forearm (scheduled for surgery this morning). Not only did she damage her arm, but they found she had also broken her right ankle, which appears to be just a chipped bone, maybe with a crack. They plan on her using a boot to stabilize it until it can heal. She was in a great deal of pain last night; was given morphine in a drip. She is worried about going to the Feast, but the doctor said he felt it would be no problem by then. Please pray for Pam, for God to see over the surgeons; that her surgery be a complete success and that she have a quick recovery.
LEWIS, GINA, wife of a co-worker of Ken Barton of Tulsa, is having a lot of gastro-intestinal trouble, and was supposed to undergo a colonoscopy on Thursday, but they were unable to complete it. There seems to be a twist in there and they will have to try something else, which, of course, means more dealing with insurance companies, etc. Please pray for solutions to her problems and ask God for her healing.
MINTON, MIKE AND MAE, Mt. Ida, AR, friends of Betty Chikar. Mike was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. He had the surgery; is taking daily chemo (pills) and drives into Hot Springs 5 times a week or radiation treatments. Mae had open heart surgery a few months ago and has some lingering effects from that, but she takes care of Mike daily. Please pray for this couple who need God’s healing.
NORDHUS, CLARENCE is in the hospital with a burst appendix. He is in bad shape because his intestines have shut down. Please remember him in your prayers. (Psalm 103)
PEOPLE IN INDIA are in need of our prayers. Dr.Rodney Simmonds writes: “Many of you are probably aware of recent events in India, with Christians being persecuted in several areas. An update from the BBC, dated yesterday, is at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/7621590.stm and a prayer request from friends in India is below. Please do stand with our Christian brothers and sisters in prayer at this challenging time. “Urgent prayer request: Please pray for Paul Thangaia in Bangalore. RSS planned to kill him. They burnt 20 churches last night and planned to destroy 200 churches in Orissa. BJP has planned to kill 200 pastors in the next 24 hours. Please pray for these people.”
TOOLE, NAOMI, 1925 W 62nd St, Tulsa OK 74132 writes: “In July this year, prayer was requested for me to find a job that would not compromised my Sabbaths and Feast Days. This prayer was answered, but a problem has now arisen. My employer is unable to pay me but needs me to still work there. His situation is going to put me in a difficult financial situation especially this month meeting my obligations with bills and mortgage. He is a God fearing person so please join me in praying that his situation and issues be worked out. I love the job I am doing and my employer is a really wonderful person, however I am applying for other jobs that hopefully will accommodate my observance of the Sabbaths and Holy Days. I sought unemployment, but was denied. Please pray that my financial needs be met and that God direct me as to what to do in this situation.”

YOUNG, BETTY, 14010 E 24th Ave, Spokane Valley WA 99037 – lung cancer, little chance –
“My Mother took her last breath about noon today, Sunday, September 7th, at her home in Spokane Washington. She was 73 years old. God has given her the freedom, relief, and mercy that we have all been praying for. She was very ready for this to be over, and she has now graduated from this life and awaits the resurrection. We are grateful for God's miracle of basically no pain for her whole ordeal with lung cancer. She found out last August, so this took just over a year. The last few weeks have been difficult, in that she could not breath very well and was getting weaker each day. The Hospice care organization in Spokane has been a tremendous blessing, and they made it possible for her to have as good a quality of life as anyone could expect while enduring this affliction to the end. AND, She was faithful to the end, and put herself completely in God's hands.
She went very peacefully and is now at rest. At noon today, Friday, September 12, 2008, God answered our prayers for mercy and blessed her with eternal healing. We look forward to seeing her again in a few short years, as God has promised. We are also grateful for having been able to visit her in May for 5 days, as well as 3 weeks ago, when we were able to pray together with her, and say a temporary good-bye, ...for a little while. We will miss her greatly! She helped shape each one of us, and was a positive God fearing influence on hundreds, in and out of the church, helping us to become who we are! Mom always helped to keep us pointed in the direction of the Spiritual Family into which our Father has called us, where we are certain we shall see her again. Now more than ever before, we hold on to the Hope that He has revealed to us, ...that when that Day comes, when we shall "...ever be with the Lord," it will be that we are ALL together with Him, as well as with our family and love ones. His timing is always perfect, and His Mercy is new every day! Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man, the things that God has prepared for those that love Him.
Funeral arrangements are pending. At the moment, it looks like it will be on Monday September 15th, in Spokane, Washington Through all of this, ...we Thank You for your love, concern, prayers, and thoughtful consideration. Warmest regards, Dave & Carol Wallauch”
STAMPER, SAM AND FAYE, 797 Dunreath, Walled Lake MI 48390, wrote this in memory of their son, Sammye Lee Stamper who died on September 17, 2007, just one year ago.
Thoughts Of The Old Couple
Sam And Faye Stamper
February 02, 2008
They sat all alone at the funeral home,
Their heads were bowed mighty low,
He raised his head and said to his wife,
"Do you remember the times long ago,
When our son was small, he laughed a lot,
A smile was always on his face,"
His wife looked at her husband with tear filled eyes,
She said, "Our son has finished life's race."
"I remember," she said, "the times long ago,
He came home from school, his eyes as bright as the sky,
Great plans for his future, we all shared together,
We never dreamed so soon our son would die.
He had high morals," the old woman said,
"He believed in doing what was right,
He fought for justice for those who could not,
Now, he has finished his long hard fight."
We will never forget the joy to our lives, he brought,
As we shared the years we had,
We watched him grow from a baby to a man,
Now without him, life is so sad.
He's gone in body, but not in our minds,
Nothing can take that away,
In memory, he is still with us,
We talk of him each day.
Each day, the tears for him flows,
They say time heals all pain,
We pray that in the Kingdom of God,
We will see our dear son again."
The old man looked at his loving wife,
He thought of how much she cared,
The child she raised, the son she loved,
His memory she held so very near.
She stroked his wrinkled hand, tears flowed down her cheeks,
He wished there was something he could say,
He looked at her through a vale of tears,
And said, "We will see our son again some day,
You will hold him close, As you have so many times,
When you would kiss his pain away,
We will be together as a family again,
In the Kingdom of God some day."
They looked at each other, as the sun set low,
They knew it was time to go,
They held each others hand as they went away,
They were going down life's one way road.

NEW PRAYERS
CROUCH, MARY, England, had a 3rd chemotherapy treatment on Monday (9/8) and that leaves another 3 sessions. She felt well enough to go back to work on Wednesday (9/3), but once she has the chemo it knocks her out for about 8-9 days, then she slowly recovers over the following 10 days, ready for another session. She is very lively when feeling well, but quiet when not. She has lost all her hair now, but has a very good wig and people have actually congratulated her on her new hairstyle, not realizing. Please pray for Mary.
HUBERT, M.R., Madras, India writes: “Greetings, The Feast is approaching in a month’s time and I need your prayers and support to organize at least to some bare minimum, food for the brethren during Feast days. The resources are almost nil. Please pray for us. All of us are praying for you and your Feast site wherever you attend. Thanks. Thanks. Love. M. R. Hubert” hubertmr@gmail.com
MEREDITH, SHERYL, c/o Living Church of God, PO Box 3810, Charlotte NC 28227 has come down again with breast cancer. A message from her husband, Roderick, tells that she has been checked and diagnosed thoroughly and an operation is scheduled for this Friday at 2:00 p.m. They do not know the extent the surgery will take, but will ask all of you to pray that God will heal her ahead of time “according to His will” or at the very least, guide the hands of the surgeon and protect her life through the operation. “I love her and need her very much and will deeply appreciate your prayers for her in every way at this time. Thank you very much.”
MURPHY, CALVIN (RAY), brother of Shirley Senay of Denton TX, had knee replacement surgery in July and now the knee has a Level II staph infection in it and he is at risk of loosing his right leg. He had come from California after the doctor’s gave him a release to spend time with their 84 year old mother who suffered a mild stroke the same day he had his knee replace-ment. He was to have been in East Texas for two more weeks, but now is having to return to California as soon as possible to undergo knee surgery again to clean out the infection. He was going to try to go back on Amtrak (he gets claustrophobic on planes, but the trains are now being diverted to help evacuate people in the path of Hurricane Ike. He should be arriving in Dallas tomorrow and then will most likely fly home Saturday. Last night his wife learned that her dad, who is 88 and lives in Minnesota, is having trouble breathing. So please direct your prayers to God on behalf of Calvin for safe transport and the best possible diagnosis for his knees. Please remember Mr. Dullum in your prayers as well.
UPDATES
DAVID – I had an error on the prayer request for David and family a couple of weeks ago. It should be a prayer for the family because his wife, Shelby is thought to have Lou Gherig’s Disease, not David with ALS. I really don’t think I was here that day (: )
GEIST, ARNOLD of Salina KS – incapacitating jaw pain for several months – UPDATE: Arnold’s family physician, a neurologist and a dentist, all now think that he has trigeminal neuralgia. They are treating him with medication for that presently. He is still in pain, but hopeful that it may soon be abated. He continues to need our prayers.
JACKSON, ED, Tulsa OK – in coma with brain swelling and blood clot in arm – UPDATE:
Ed recently underwent another CT scan which showed that he had suffered a stroke in the left side of his brain. The brain swelling has gone down some, but is still present. He continues to have swelling in his arms and legs, although the blood clot to his arm can no longer be found! The pupils of his eyes are responding to light now and he has been upgraded from a “comatose” to a vegetative state. He may soon be moved to a long-term rehab unit that is connected to the hospital. His family requests continued prayers on behalf of Mr. Jackson.
JAMES and his bride are reported as getting along better with their “challenges.” They still need help in being considerate, attentive and responsive to each other. He will be starting training for a new sales job and prayers for God’s to help him to be a blessing for both his boss and for his customers, as well as his new family. Thanks for your prayers.
KNISLEY, EDITH, 91, nodule in left lung, surgery 9/9 – UPDATE: Edith had the surgery for lung cancer late this past Tuesday. It was much longer than expected because the upper lobe of her lung had to be removed. She is progressing well, but still in ICU until the tube to keep her lung inflated can be removed. Thanks so much for your prayers and please continue to pray for her. (Mrs. Knisley is the mother of Joan (Mrs. Bill) Short.)
KOLEVICH, MICHAEL, Plains PA, son of Simona Juzwiak, liver transplant 3 weeks ago, now infection – UPDATE: Michael was released from the hospital on Monday, 9/8. All the tubes were removed except the catheter in his neck (that area was cleaned and looked at). He still needs antibiotics for the bacteria that he is fighting. The hospital is very impressed on how well he is coming along. They are giving him the supplies that he needs when at home. A nurse will be visiting 5 days a week. He has a walker, bathroom seat (for toilet), seat for the shower, and railings for the bathtub. Please continue your prayers for his progress.

DEATHS, BIRTHS, MISCELLANEOUS
No deaths reported this week.
QUARLES, JAMES (BUDDY), 226 Plum Creek Road, Longview TX 75605 was taken to the Emergency Room on Monday suffering severe pain in his abdomen. All kinds of tests have been run and no diagnosis has been made as yet. Please pray that they find what is causing the problem, take care of it, and with God's blessing, heal him. UPDATE: Wednesday 9/10: At 10:00 last evening, they still didn't know Buddy's problem, but at 2:30 a.m. this morning, Pat, his wife, called and said that he was in surgery for a ruptured appendix. He came through the surgery fine and is resting. More updates later. UPDATE: Thursday 9/11: Buddy was moved from ICU today to a regular room. He is doing very well, but has so much infection that they are leaving the wound open until the infection subsides to stitch the incision. Please pray for healing and a complete recovery.
ZIOMEK-WITEK, JANINE, 165 Stanislaus St #1, Buffalo NY 14212, will be going to look at a new apartment on Friday. It is a government subsidized dwelling, has security and many other features needed by Janine and husband, Butch. Things look good for them, but they need your prayers for God to help them get it. They need to get out of their apartment on the 31st, so please pray hard. They received some help (in form of donation) to go toward the moving, security deposit, etc., and they want to thank that those who sent it. Please pray that all will go well for them to get moved by the deadline, and will get somewhere they can live more safely.
CAUGHFIELD, SUE, 240 CR 3160, Cookville TX 75558 wrote asking for prayers. She writes: My little great niece KARA SASS, 12, is in the hospital in Pittsburg (she is the one who has that missing enzyme). She hasn't been able to keep anything on her stomach for days now. They aren't sure what is wrong, but she is in so much pain that they are giving her morphine. All of our family are sick, so we all would appreciate your prayers.
RICHMOND, CAROL, 1910 Jane St #111, Longview TX 75605 - surgery for cist in ovary - UPDATE: Carol had her surgery on Tuesday and is recovering very well. She goes back to the doctor for a check-up in 2 weeks. She wanted me to thank everyone who prayed for her, called, and send cards. It was certainly appreciated. Please continue your prayers for a while longer for her quick and complete recovery.

Please remember ELAINE KEYS of Conway AR, to our Father for His protection and safety today and for a period of time. Just before leaving from church, I received a message from Jean Broshears (a friend of Elaine's and sort of caregiver because she has not much family) telling me that Elaine is in danger of her life. She just moved from one apartment to another one, and was aided by the Broshears and a neighbor and her son. This son is in a gang. Last night, he came to her apartment and she opened the door to him, thinking his mother was with him. He and some others threatened her life if she didn't take and hide some guns for the gang. After she left, she called the police, but there was not much they could do. She will be staying with the Broshears for a few days, but will have to make a decision soon about whether or not to try to change apartments again, so they will now know where she lives. Please ask God's guidance in her decisions, and mainly as His protection for both her and Jean, because the gang knows both of them.
